    We contracted with the National Council on Public History to prepare an administrative history of the NPS Southwestern National Monuments group. The study tells the history of an office that supervised national monuments in the desert southwest, 1923-1957.

  • Section 106 Consultation

    We help federal agencies consult with the Idaho SHPO to meet Section 106 responsibilities. Many projects involve evaluating historic farms and canals in support of Army Corps Section 404 permits for new housing projects in Canyon and Ada counties.

  • Willow Creek

    Hallam Historical prepared a narrative history of a 3,200-acre ranch on Willow Creek in Camas County, Idaho. The study revealed histories of silver mining on Big Smoky Creek, freighting through deep snow to Hailey, and a chic 1960s snowmobiling resort.

  • McKinney Lane

    Hallam Historical used National Register criteria to evaluate a 1973 government building in Boise’s West Bench neighborhood. The work supported a multifamily affordable housing project developed by the City of Boise through its affordable housing land trust.

  • Owyhee Rangelands

    We recently prepared a narrative history of a 4,860-acre ranch in the Meadow Creek rangelands of Owyhee County, Idaho. The story told of Silver City mining, cattle drives from Texas, and a pair of brothers who trapped enough coyotes to make a small fortune.

  • Sunnyside School

    Hallam Historical prepared a National Register Nomination for the 1923 Sunnyside School in Washington County, Idaho. Designed by Wayland & Fennell of Boise, the school did much to modernize primary education in the Sunnyside community.
